Multiplying is a quicker way to do repeated addition.

Here’s a review of our recent quiz. How did you do?

There’s some helpful strategies for multiplying by fours and threes: multiplication strategies 3-4

  • Multiplying by four is “double-double.”

    • eg. 4 x 7 is the same as (2×7) + (2×7) = 14+14 = 28 
    • eg. 4 x 125 is the same as (2 x 125) + (2 x 125) = 250+250 = 500 
  • Multiplying by three is “double plus one.”

    • eg. 3 x 7 is the same as (2×7) + (1×7) = 14+7 = 28 
    • eg. 3 x 125 is the same as (2 x 125) + (1 x 125) = 250+125 = 375
